Tomáš Jungwirth was awarded the MEYS award for science and research

On Wednesday, December 2, 2020, prof. Tomáš Jungwirth, Ph.D. received The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Award for Science and Research - the František Běhounek Award, from the minister Robert Plaga for the promotion and popularization of Czech science in the European Research Area.

Prof. Tomáš Jungwirth, Ph.D. heads the spintronics and nanoelectronics department of the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and also works at the University of Nottingham. Professor Jungwirth is one of four members of an international team that announced the discovery of the so-called spin Hall effect and its practical use. In 2018, his team announced the invention of a significantly faster method of storing electronic data using antiferromagnetic crystals. He is the author of 230 international publications, which have more than 16,000 registered citations.
