Within the self-service access, the user is using the infrastructure instrumentation on his/her own. Research infrastructure staff provides the training and approves the user for independent instrument operation. The instruments can be booked in advance via the online booking system and can be typically accessed 365 days in a year 24 hours in a day.
This type of access is available for academic as well as industrial users. Industrial users pay full hourly rates for the instrument usage; academic users pay the yearly flat-rate user fee.
Proposal-based full-service access aims at excellent research projects, typically involving combined instrumentation and expertise of the CzechNanoLab staff and associated research groups. The high-quality scientific output of these project is expected. A potential user prepares a project proposal in close collaboration with CzechNanoLab staff. The CzechNanoLab project review panel evaluates these proposals and the successful applications are assigned a certain amount of free instrument-hours and person-hours for the work on his project.

In this type of access, the user requests the service such as device fabrication or sample measurement and this request is processed by the research infrastructure staff. The user is charged by academic or commercial rates for instrument-hours and person-hours spent on his project.
